About Us

Our aim is to provide children with a safe, secure environment where they can fulfil their potential through fun.

St Peter's Busy Bees

We are open during term times on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (closed Wednesday) with sessions running from 9am-12:45pm or 9am-2:30pm for 2-4 year olds.

Various funding options are available, please contact us for more information. A healthy packed lunch and water bottle will need to be supplied for each session. Toilet training is not required, we can work with you on this when your child is ready.

We have excellent resources which are suitable for the children's ages and stage of development. Resources are selected on a daily basis by the staff and children to meet the children's interests and to support their learning.

Children are encouraged to choose whether to play inside or out with a ‘free-flow’ system. We are fortunate enough to have a secure grassed outside playing area with 22m2 artificial grass and we encourage the children to play outside, weather permitting, as they enjoy activities such as digging in the sand or playing on their tricycles. It also exposes them to the outside environment - children put bread on the bird table and find mini-beasts in the garden such as worms and spiders, learning about their environment through observation and touch.

As we are fortunate enough to be located close to the River Len, once a term we take the children on a nature walk down to the local pond to feed the ducks. We talk to the children en route about what they can see, hear, smell and touch.

We further encourage a healthy lifestyle by ensuring children have access to drinking water at all times during the session. Busy Bees also runs a daily 'snack bar' encouraging the children to choose a healthy snack during the morning with a variety of fruit, vegetables and carbohydrates.

St Peter's Busy Bees

Partnerships with parents are highly positive. Parents have reported to Ofsted that they are very happy with the care their children are receiving and have the opportunity to share their views through questionnaires and daily, verbal communication. Parents complete the 'unique child profile' when their child starts at the setting, giving staff information about where their child is with their development. Parental contributions are then obtained on a regular basis, along with key worker’s comments about how their child is progressing under the seven areas of learning. This sharing of information enables children to make good progress in their learning and development.

The pre-school is run by a committee which meets termly and holds an AGM in July. All parents are invited to attend meetings – new faces are always welcome! The committee is responsible for making sure the pre-school is following procedures, financially secure and also organises fundraising events. If you would like to join the committee, please speak to any member of staff for further information.
